About Us

The Socialist International Women is the international organisation of the women’s organisations of the socialist, social democratic and labour parties affiliated to the Socialist International. There are currently 115 member organisations from all parts of the world. The aims and objectives of the Socialist International Women are:

  • To promote gender equality, combat all forms of discrimination against women and to promote women’s rights which are human rights;
  • To strengthen relations between member organisations of the Socialist International Women with the aim to coordinate political positions and activities;
  • To encourage its member organisations to ensure the implementation of resolutions and declarations adopted at meetings of the Socialist International Women;
  • To seek to extend relations between member organisations of the Socialist International Women and other socialist-oriented women’s groups and organisations which are not members but are committed to the advancement of gender equality and desire to work in cooperation with the Socialist International Women;
  • To promote action programmes to overcome any discrimination against women and girls, and to empower women and girls in all fields and
  • To work for development, peace and human rights in general.

The Socialist International Women is a non-governmental organisation with consultative status at the United Nations Economic and Social Council.
